Abrasive Wheels

The candidate can carry out training on the machine or training + test which can be carried out on site or at our purpose-built training Centre.

After completion of the course the candidate will:

  • Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operator.
  • Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook and other sources of information, regulations and legislations applicable to the particular machine to be used.
  • Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions.
  • Be able to locate and identify the operating controls and explain their functions.
  • Be able to conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturers and legislative requirements.
  • Be able to identify and maintain PPE appropriate when using a cutting machine or grinding.
  • Be able to select suitable type of machine relative to the work being undertaken.
  • Be able to conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area and set up an exclusion zone.
  • Be able to prepare the machine for use and operate machine safely and efficiently.
  • Have a basic understanding of environmental considerations.
  • Have a basic understanding of storage and transport of cutting/ grinding machine.
  • Be able to carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures.
